Nursery

The essential basis for all future learning is established through children’s early play and learning and through the attitudes to education acquired during the nursery years.

In the nursery, we cover the following areas which will prepare your child for entrance to primary school: physical development; hand to eye co-ordination; use of pencils, paintbrushes and other writing materials; listening skills; use of the English language; the alphabet; number work; colour and shape recognition.

Extensive use is made of teaching aids (such as water and sand play, building blocks, jigsaw puzzles, song and dance, story books and play equipment) in order to encourage children’s creativity and self-confidence. Each Nursery class has a qualified teacher and helper. 

Starting school is always a big step in the life of any child.  Children will be looking forward to the experience – mostly in happy anticipation; some maybe with trepidation of entering into the unknown. We strive to make this experience enjoyable and rewarding and we welcome parents who wish to come and sit with their children for part of the school day.
